A wide range of styles...
The North Cotswold Chamber Choir is one of the finest choral groups in Oxfordshire. Formed in 1992, our repertoire embraces a huge range of styles encompassing music of the last thousand years, from Gregorian plainchant and Hildegard von Bingen, via sacred Tudor anthems and masterpieces of the Baroque period, to secular, contemporary and popular works.
The choir enjoys an enviable reputation for the excitement and panache of its performances, and has sung alongside soloists of international stature including Nancy Argenta, Catherine Bott, Jennifer Smith and James Gilchrist.
The North Cotswold Chamber Choir is affiliated to the National Federation of Music Societies.
Why not find out more about our forthcoming concerts ?
"Looking at the singers ranged across the west end of the spacious church, it was quite difficult to remember that this accomplished, 29-strong group actually call themselves a "chamber" choir, such was the crescendo they produced in Christus factus est. And when they sing softly, it can make the hairs stand up on the back of your neck...The North Cotswold Choir is plainly on very good form." - Oxford Times, 2 May 2012
"Over the years the choir has earned a considerable reputation locally for producing concerts of superb quality, with top-class soloists, that were very memorable. This concert was no exception." - Oxford Times, 6th April 2011
"Add to that the choir's flawless diction, crisp entries and purity of tone...all held together with Jonathan Leonard's well-paced conducting, and this was indeed a performance to cherish." - Oxford Times, 29th April 2009
"Rachmaninov's Vespers requires strong dynamic control and impressive breath management through long phrases. This proved to be no problem to this choir, indeed the music played to NC3's strengths, with conductor Jonathan Leonard drawing out the many complex strands in the music with transparent clarity." - Oxford Times, 3rd February 2006
"With their customary skill and attention to detail, the singers depicted the contrasting moods to perfection." - Oxford Times, 13th March 2005
"...an immaculate, robust and sparkling performance, which seemed to leave the entire audience bathed in a satisfied and appreciative glow" - Oxford Times, 14th May 2004
